A group

For experienced riders comfortable with group riding at an average pace of 18 – 21 mph over varied terrain that may include some challenging climbs. The A group will normally ride an extended version of the main route, often adding an additional climb or two. The group will have a sub leader appointed on the morning with the aim of arriving at the nominated coffee shop to meet the other group(s).

B group

The main group led by the ride leader for the day.

The average pace is normally 15-16 mph but this will vary according to the terrain and riding conditions. The aim will be to ride as a group for the duration of the ride with no-one being left behind. After a climb the ride will stop to regroup to ensure that everyone can stay together.

B+ group

If the number of riders in the B group becomes too large the formation of a second group may be decided on the day. The aim will be to split the group to allow the quicker riders to form a B+ group, with their own sub leader, riding at a pace somewhere between the A and B group. The B+ group will normally follow the pre-planned route of the day.

C group

Suitable for riders looking for a shorter ride of around 35-40 miles with an average pace of 12-14mph, the group may not head for the nominated coffee shop, instead choosing an option closer to home.
