Does anyone fancy having a go ??. Happy to have a bash at the solo tt & partner someone in the 2 up, preferably a novice or someone old and slow like me !!. The event is at Ilton and if you've never been it's a great venue (completely traffic free) and ideal for newcomers to time trialling. If anyone fancies it, entries need to be in fairly soon. It's only a tenner for both the solo and 2 up and they are both very short distances. ... See MoreSee Less

Hi guys

Quick reminder for the Hammer Sportive on Sunday 29th April.

Hope to see many of you in sunny Salcombe again this Spring!

3 stunning routes in the South Hams – Can you handle the HAMMER?

135 km ‘Jack Hammer’ / 2,600 m climbing, 105 km ‘Steam Hammer’ / 1,900 m and 65 km ‘Trip Hammer’ / 1,065 m. With solo and team timing standards!

The most spectacular, challenging and rewarding early season sportive in the UK! Starting from the beautiful resort town of Salcombe, the Hammer takes in a stunning tour of the breathtaking South Hams. An incredible event in its own right, it is a perfect springboard to European hilly and mountain sportives as well as a logical stepping stone for UK events like the Dartmoor Classic.

With Spring being the one day ‘classics’ season, we’ve added a distinctly continental flavour to the feed stations, which in addition to the usual energy products, drinks, and fruit, will also offer Belgian Liege waffles. If they don’t keep you going, nothing will!

Entries are open to individuals and teams (everybody gets an idividual result and gold/silver/bronze standard, all team members will also receive the combined team time and combined team standard of gold/silver or bronze).

As previewed by RoadCyclingUK –

And ridden by Sportive Cycling UK –

HQ – Salcombe Rugby Club, TQ8 8AX

Which Hammer will you choose?

Jack Hammer – 135 km / 2,600m (£29.99)
Steam Hammer – 105km / 1,900m (£29.99)
Trip Hammer – 65 km / 1,060m (£25.99)

As discussed with one or two of you last night I'm going to head out for a very steady spin for anyone that wants to join me.

Need to be back into town no later than 12 noon so the plan is to meet opposite Riders at 9.30am and do the Saturday morning Sweets route (32 miles) without a coffee stop.
