Hi Everyone,

Just a gentle reminder that it's our annual mince pie ride on December 18th.

We will need to let the cafe know approximate numbers (the club are paying for a drink and piece of cake) so we've created an event page where you can confirm that you're going.

Please take a look at it. Any questions just ask.

Peter Hares and Len Pinchen lead this Sunday's ride to Godney with an anticipated route as follows. It promises to be an ideal opportunity to try a group ride if you've not done so before. All welcome.

Out of town along the Bath Road, right through Bradney, and up the hill to Cossington (possibly on the cycle path, dependant upon conditions). Along the ‘Poldens’ to Shapwick and Ashcott then following the cycle route through Sharpham (extra care on bad road surfaces) to the outskirts of Glastonbury. A sharp left turn takes us past the local football ground and across the moor to Godney and the coffee stop. For our return, we intend heading over Godney Moor to Westhay then turning for Burtle, Edington (passing Tony’s Towers) and crossing both our outward route and the A39 to drop down into Stawell, Chedzoy and home. The distance is approximately 40 miles, the terrain really very gentle and the speed will meet the criteria of an “easy paced ride”.

With the number of rider's out on Sunday's remaining very high there will almost certainly be a slightly longer quicker alternative if (Trigger) road conditions permit.

This Sunday (27th) I will be leading the club ride to Weston.
The route out will be via Huntworth, Puriton hill, turning left at the Knowle Inn and continue to Woolavington. We will turn left at Mark to Burnham, then on to Brean (past the golf club) turn left onto Wick rd and on to Weston via Bleadon.
On the return we will go over Bleadon hill, pass the Webbington then on to Cross, Axbridge, Wedmore, Shapwick, down Pedwell hill, Greinton, Moorlinch, Stawell, Chedzoy, then back into Bridgy.
in total it should be approx 55miles of flat/undulating terrain with the outward leg slightly shorter than the return, getting to the cafe about 10.45 and back in Bridgwater before 13.30hrs.
See you on Sunday in the usual place at 9am.

Another thought on cycling acronyms....having been uncomplimentary about ageing wannabes on Tupperware bikes it occurred to me today, whilst astride my rusty steed, that another category could be TOSOS (pronunciation fairly obvious) being Traditionalist Old Sods On Steel.
What do you think?

The pronunciation is as you would expect. It describes a number of our fellow "clubbers".
